Professional Practices - Week 32

Semester B:  Week 32 Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 32 Showreel Using Jitter, I have started animating the introduction. I wanted to tease the audience before revealing the actual title, so I only showed parts of it at the beginning. Since Jitter has a plugin in Figma, I was able to create a storyboard before importing the frames into Jitter itself. It was very useful and time-efficient as I could visualise how my showreel sequence was going to be and use those frames in my actual video. For the graphic design part of the showreel, I attempted to place an image of the artwork behind the mockup and used the overlay blending option to make it darker. However, I did not like it and will try a different approach instead. I isolated the paint in Photoshop with the masking tool and imported that into Jitter. I added the graphic design work I did back when I was working for a student ambassador organisation for my pre...

Professional Practices - Week 29

Semester B:  Week 29 Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 29 Updating the Portfolio Brainstorming Dean has been complaining about how my online portfolio resembles a tech website, such as Apple or Samsung. I finally decided to change it today. I was inspired by  Aristide Benoist's portfolio, where the creator applied  the contrast between the small-lowercase typography and the large-scale elements, especially with the vibrant text against the dark background. Aristide Benoist's Portfolio I took those ideas and made adjustments to my current website. Before that, I selected two colour palettes that had two complementary colours to stand out. Professional Practices - Week 28

Semester B:  Week 28 Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 28 Feedbacks Showreel Change the title type style from Instrument Serif Italic to Regular because it looks old-fashioned Have the first text appear in sync with the first ping from the sound effect Updated Title Style Portfolio Mafalda suggested finding suitable colours on  https://colorhunt.co/ It doesn't seem to accurately represent me as a person (try changing to this colour palette:  https://colorhunt.co/palette/7daacbe8dbb3fffdebce2626 ) The logo could be scaled up to showcase its beauty, e.g. putting it on the right side of the hero section

Professional Practices - Week 27 (Easter Break)

Semester B:  Week 27 (Easter Break) Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 27 Showreel Planning Pt. 2 I was inspired by a showreel I came across on Behance (refer below). It is simple yet effective in conveying the technical skills of the creator to the viewer. With only a month left until submission (along with other assignments), I needed to find a way to make a showreel without using After Effects. This is because animating UI content in After Effects requires recreating wireframes from scratch, which is tedious and time-consuming. Fortunately, I found a platform called Jitter. It has a built-in Figma plugin that allows for a seamless transfer of designs and offers a good range of animation features. Although the free version is limited to a 720p export, it saves me a lot of time. Plus, I can always pay for the Pro version for about £14 and cancel the subscription afterwards. Not only that, learning how to use this platfo...

Professional Practices - Week 25

Semester B:  Week 25 Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 25 Updates on Portfolio A month ago, Dean suggested replacing the primary blue in my online portfolio with a more muted, less saturated tone. Following this feedback, I used a HEX colour palette generator to develop a more harmonious scheme, selecting specific hues for my primary brand colours and website background. Professional Practices - Week 24

Semester B:  Week 24 Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 24 Progress on CV After revising the CV based on the feedback from the system, I had it re-scored and got a 90%.  Second Score on CV I went through the suggestions and focused on swapping out the action verbs. Even though the system is still nagging me about the introduction section, dates, and spelling, I’ve manually double-checked everything. It’s all solid on my end, so I’m ignoring those glitches for now. I got it scored one last time and got a 92%, which I am satisfied. Final Score on CV List of Scores

Professional Practices - Week 23

Semester B:  Week 23 Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 23 Progress on CV This week, I continued refining my CV to enhance its compatibility with ATS algorithms. When applying for a position, the last thing I want is for a specific keyword filter to block my application despite meeting all the job requirements. CV Analysis on CareerSet Some of the highlighted findings were incorrect, as I had an education heading included in my current CV. CV Analysis Errors on CareerSet

Professional Practices - Week 21

Semester B:  Week 21 Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 21 Progress on Portfolio I chanced upon a portfolio from a designer at Google and thought it would be good to reference how he describes his design process from start to finish, paying special attention to the storytelling technique, paragraph length, type of images used, and style of writing. The link to his portfolio:  https://www.dousanmiao.com/ I went on to create a template that I could use to write my own case studies (adapting it to specific projects).   Keeping the responsiveness of the website in mind, I added 3 more breakpoints to accommodate various devices.  Feedback From Dean Add an interesting hero image ...

Professional Practices - Week 19

Semester B:  Week 19 Student:  Tai Ser Yeet (22064351) Programme:  BA (Hons)(SW) Digital Media Design WEEK 19 Results on Lemon Project I got third place for the assignment and was gifted a lemon drizzle cake from Sainsbury's (thanks, Dean!). The prize for first place was a bag of lemons and a 200-pound Amazon gift voucher, which made my jaw drop. In hindsight, I would have posted more dance videos if I knew what the first-place prize was going to be, but oh well, you appreciate what you have and move on.  My Lemon Cake and I After Class I wanted to create a deboss text effect for the business card, which is essentially  the oppos...
