WEEK 29

Updating the Portfolio

Brainstorming
Dean has been complaining about how my online portfolio resembles a tech website, such as Apple or Samsung. I finally decided to change it today.

I was inspired by Aristide Benoist's portfolio, where the creator applied the contrast between the small-lowercase typography and the large-scale elements, especially with the vibrant text against the dark background.

I took those ideas and made adjustments to my current website. Before that, I selected two colour palettes that had two complementary colours to stand out.

Refining the Wireframes
The hero background felt plain with the brown, so I added an orange radial gradient for a pop of colour. I chose the ocean blue as the logo colour.

Updated Desktop Design

Having a second look at the colour scheme of my updated design, I realised that it looked very similar to one from my UI/UX project that I did in my second year! So I changed it to a different colour, HEX code of #1D1610.

Updated Hero Colour

I did not like how the edge of the logo in the navigation bar was not aligned with the left of the body section, so I increased the padding on both sides.

Feedback From Dean
The text stacked vertically looks old-fashioned. Besides that, place the logo on the side, bigger or as a background.
