WEEK 19
Results on Lemon Project
I got third place for the assignment and was gifted a lemon drizzle cake
from Sainsbury's (thanks, Dean!). The prize for first place was a bag of
lemons and a 200-pound Amazon gift voucher, which made my jaw drop. In
hindsight, I would have posted more dance videos if I knew what the
first-place prize was going to be, but oh well, you appreciate what you have
and move on.

After Class
I wanted to create a deboss text effect for the business card, which is
essentially the opposite of embossing. Instead of raising the design, it involves
pressing it into the material so it sits below the surface. Dean showed
me how to manually create that effect in Photoshop, but it can also be
done in Adobe Illustrator.
A few tips:
- Emboss: dark at the bottom, light at the top
- Deboss: light at the bottom, dark at the top
- 3 Layers: Shadow, Mid Colour (Same colour as background), Highlight
- Make the document size bigger A4, then shrink it
- Background colour has to be slightly off-white to create that effect because the highlight is usually white color
- Blur the text ever so slightly so the layers merge seamlessly together
- Don't have to write the address, only for the invoice and letterhead

This is what I have so far (refer below). The effect isn't very visible due
to its size, but I can adjust it with Dean's help next week. I've not done
it for the logo, just the body text.
Showreel Inspiration
Showreel Inspiration
While researching the company for my job application, I came across a short video highlighting your recent achievements. I was particularly impressed by the creative motion typography and the seamless synchronisation of the visual effects with the soundtrack's rhythm. I might use this as a reference when creating my own showreel.
