WEEK 11
Class Takeaways
- you can change the position of text other than what's been stated in the guidelines to improve legibility
- you could even change the master artwork by adding a patch of the artwork and putting it behind the text
- Some poster examples given in Dean's folder do not match the dimensions of the documents needed for the RA project, because there are so many of them, so not everything is included
- Make sure to use the correct examples (don't use posters that aren't for the summer exhibition)
- No need to follow the exact size of the logo in the examples; you can even make the text smaller or flip the picture around so you get more of a clean background for the text to sit over
- do not add a drop shadow to the assets - big no no haha
- Kerning for title poster - sometimes having it tight is nicer and is part of the style
Questions:
- Where do I get the assets on the bottom right of the poster? Answer: You create them yourself
- Can I create all of the posters and cards in the same document with a different bleed? Answer: No, each one has to be in its own separate document because when you send your document off to the print shop, you need to make it clear what needs to be printed
- Is a 0.124-inch bleed the same as a 3mm bleed, and why are all bleeds different? Answer: No, and each bleed is different for every dimension because, e.g. as a poster gets bigger, the bleed gets wider as well
- Can we apply a drop shadow to the text to make it more legible?
