Think Outside The Box
To emphasised his point, Dean invited us to play a game with lego blocks. Each of us were given a set of colored lego blocks and we needed to use all of it to make a bird in a fixed amount of time. According to Dean, I succumbed to the conventional way of creating the bird because I used the flat pieces to resemble wings and the cube ones to make the body. Instead, I could have used it differently. In conclusion, I learned that there are so many ways to touch the nose/ arrive to your end goal. Since kindergarten, our creativity has long been suppressed by the education system. It is time that we tap into the minds of our 5 year old self.

With that being said, there are so many ways to tell a story. For example, Dean showed us plenty of adverstisements that have unique storytelling. Film-makers have the power to shape a narrative through pre- or post- production. For example, you can simply rearrange clips from a sequence and BAAM! It becomes a brand new story altogether. I remember this particular advert shown about how speeding kills. It starts off with a few scenes of school kids having fun on a lovely afternoon when suddenly, a speeding car crashed into them, killing them all. The logo of law enforcements appear and a one liner that reads, "Speeding kills". Punches you right in the gut.

Reverse Thinking

For example, I have only seen a handful of YouTubers apply reverse thinking in their videos such as "don't subscribe to my channel" or "don't click that like button because I don't need revenue to support my channel."
