Task: Week 38's Class Task
WEEK 38
This week, I finalised the main story of my project. Initially, I wanted to make my project about my job application journey using a fork as the protagonist but after much consideration, I decided to scratch that idea. This is because I believe that the storyline was not interesting enough. Plus with the hand-drawn art style I am aiming for, I knew the easiest way to excel in the module with the least amount of time is to choose vector graphics as my art direction.
Creating a divisional chart to map out the plot of my story is ideal for me because it allows me to structure my storyline better and gives me an idea of its flow.
Latest Idea
My latest idea was inspired by the Dead Poets Society released on 22 September 1989. According to the Disney+ website about the film, "a charismatic new professor, John Keating, inspires Welton Academy students to think for themselves, live life to the fullest and "Carpe Diem." His unconventional approach awakens the spirits of the students and inspires them to make their lives extraordinary, but he soon draws the wrath of a disapproving faculty when an unexpected tragedy strikes the school."
SPOILER ALERT FOR THE ENDING!In the end, Neil commits suicide by shooting himself in the head with his father's gun at his own home. Before this event, he had just starred in a school play; it was his first acting role. His father wasn't too happy when he discovered that Neil had forged his signature on the parental consent form required for the acting role approval.
In the end, I always wondered that if the father was supportive towards Neil's passion towards performing arts; would Neil still commit suicide. Riding off that curiosity, I decided to make an alternate ending towards the story
The main objective of this is to educate parents to let their children pursue their dreams rather than imposing their own expectations on them. In addition, they should also allow the freedom to express their wants and needs to their parents.
Writing the StorylinesI mapped out the various directions in which my storyline could branch out in Figjam based on the story arc diagram.

Writing the Storylines
I mapped out the various directions in which my storyline could branch out in Figjam based on the story arc diagram.
- Refer to the members of Monty Python because some of them went to prestigious schools such as the University of Cambridge and studied law or history but upon graduating, they ventured into a completely different field.
- I can refer to the film's plot but make sure to add more elements to it because if not, people could just watch the original film instead of playing with your interactive project.
